  • What kind of information does Bird-Export need when I send you an e-mail ?
    • We need to know:
      • the exact species you are looking for in detail, also Latin name !
      • the number of birds you would like to purchase from each species
      • if you are interested in pet shop quality or show/breeder’s quality
      • if you are looking for captive bred or wild caught birds
      • where you are located
      • if you are located in the UK, we deliver to key locations about every three weeks, with no minimum number of birds to be ordered
      • if you have imported before
    • The more information you can provide us with, the more detailed our answer can be and the quicker you can have your birds!

  • Do you have a pricelist of available birds?
    • There is no pricelist available online.
    • The prices of birds can be easily obtained if you send us an e-mail with the information mentioned in question 1.
    • Prices depend on quality and rareness of the species and their possible mutations or combinations.

  • Which species are available at the moment?
    • Please have a look at our Stock List.
      This list will be updated once a week. So don’t forget to go and have a look every week, that way you can be the first to acquire those rare imported species !

  • Is there a minimum order?
    • No minimum order for delivery to the UK , but for delivery elsewhere there is.
    • It all depends on the size of the birds.
    • But the absolute minimum is 25 heads.
    • One IATA approved shipping box can contain a maximum of 50 heads of Gouldian-sized birds.

  • What is the cost of shipping birds to my country?
    • Shipping costs depend on:
      • the volume and weight of boxes being shipped
      • the country of destination: as each country has different air freights : the invoice of the shipping costs will be delivered to you together with all the other documents : that way you can see we don’t make any profit on shipping costs !

  • Do you ship to my country?
    • Shipping can be done on a weekly basis, sometimes even on a daily basis to most parts of the world. Tell us your preferred airport destination and we’ll check it with our agent to see what’s possible.
      We always look for the fastest way to deliver the birds to you !

  • What do I need to do when I want to import?
      • If you live outside of the E.U. you need to have an official import permit, that needs to be sent to us : not a copy or a fax !
      • If you live in the E.U. you don’t need an import permit. We will fax you a copy of the airway bill number, make sure you take that copy with you when you go to the cargo office to collect your birds.
      • In some non-E.U. countries you also need to reserve quarantine space in an officially approved quarantine station, where your birds need to stay for about 30 days.
        This is the case in e.g. South-Africa, Canada, USA, ...

  • What are the different steps taken when exportation takes place: from the moment I make my order until I receive my birds ?
      • When you place an order and we confirm that we are able to supply these birds, we have to inform our Ministry that there will be an export of live birds to your country.
      • Twenty-four hours later our quarantine vet will receive a unique health certificate number from our Ministry.
      • Our vet will inspect your birds, prior to shipping.
      • After his approval, he will sign the health certificate which is valid for 8 days.
      • Your flight will be booked and you will receive all information required before shipping takes place : airway bill number, flight number, time of departure, local time of arrival, … That way you can easily track your shipment through the internet.
      • You will receive a call from the airport to confirm the arrival of your birds.
      • On the day of shipping your birds are delivered to the airport and the condition of the birds and packing is checked again by an independent vet.
      • Once the birds have arrived at your local airport, they will be checked by a local vet.
      • After all this, the most exciting part : collecting your birds !

  • Do you have parrot-related birds ?
    • Apart from agapornis pullaria, no.
    • We are specialized in most other species, however don’t hesitate to contact Erik Jonker at e.jonker@introweb.nl. He is one of the best Dutch specialists in parrot-related species.

  • Can I visit you or your company ?
    • As we have a European approved Quarantine Station, we do not have a shop. But you are always welcome to visit us, after making an appointment.
    • You are welcome to use our guest house for 1 night for free, Bed & Breakfast included. The only condition is your minimum order is € 900 otherwise it is €30 per person per night B&B.
    • The guest house is in the grounds of our quarantine station, in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood, close to the centre of Bruges.
